Hockey at Skate Frederick is fast, fun, and growing. From fall, winter, and spring leagues to Learn to Play programs, summer camps, and open ice, we offer year-round training and recreation for players across Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Our USA Hockey certified coaches teach more than just technique. Players learn sportsmanship, discipline, respect, and a real love for the game.

Hockey Team
Mike O’Neil
Hockey Director
Mike brings 20 years of experience with the Skate Frederick hockey community to his role as Victory Hockey Director. He helped develop our USA Hockey 8U ADM program, launched the Stars program, and earned a national award for the development of our Dominoes program.
Joyce Glorioso
Hockey Administrator
Joyce manages the day-to-day operations of Victory Hockey, from registration and scheduling to family communications and program logistics. She’s your first point of contact for questions about any of our hockey programs. Joyce joined Victory hockey department in 2010. Joyce brings over 16 years of program and scheduling experience and is a certified Rink Administrator.

Achievement and a love for hockey come from a solid foundation, and that’s exactly what our Victory Hockey Learn to Play program is built to deliver. New players are challenged but never frustrated, comfortable but never bored.
Who It’s For
- Skaters who have completed the Basic Hockey Lesson Series through our Learn to Skate program
- Players with prior approval from the Hockey Director

Dominoes returns Spring 2027!
Our developmental hockey class is built for our smallest players. Designed around fun, safety, and curiosity, Dominoes helps 4-to-6-year-olds discover hockey at a pace that works for them.
Victory Recreational League
Let the Games Begin!
Victory Hockey Recreational League is a league for boys and girls ages 5–17yrs, with a focus on fundamental skill development, sportsmanship, and a whole lot of fun.
We play in the Capital Corridor Hockey League (CCHL) from October through the end of February.
Victory holds evaluations to balance teams for the season (evaluations are not tryouts!). You will be notified of team placements after the second practice. 8U 1st Practice 9/9 and 10U-18U Evaluation 8/24.
Requirements
- Completion of Learn to Play, prior hockey experience, or Hockey Director approval
- Full hockey equipment
- Current USA Hockey membership

Victory Stars Select Team
For Players Ready to Compete
Victory Stars is for players seeking competitive game play and exciting tournament action. Teams compete at 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, and 18U levels.
Program Focus
High-level skill development, team building, leadership, and character. Spirited but friendly competition built on sportsmanship and a love for the game.
Season
Combination of non-league games and tournaments from October to March. USA Hockey compliant for tournament eligibility.
Tryouts
Stars Pre-Season Clinic is August 17th! 8U/10U 5:30-6:30PM & 12U/14U/18U 6:45-7:45PM
Stars Tryouts is August 22nd! Teams will be determined following tryouts.

Adult Hockey
You’re Never Too Old for the Coolest Game on Earth
Skate Frederick offers instructional classes and league play for adults of all skill levels. Whether you’re picking up a stick for the first time or returning to the rink after years away, there’s a place for you here.
Where to Start
- Adult Hockey Skating Class (Coming Spring 2027)
- Master foundational skating skills before diving into hockey. The perfect prep for our Adult Learn to Play class.
- Adult Learn to Play Hockey (Coming May 2027)
- Build the hockey skills you need to play. Each session includes instruction and a scrimmage, with a smooth transition to our beginner D League.
Ready to Play?
- D League (Season Starts Sept. 11, 2026) 10 Games, 1 Practice, & Playoffs
- Built for beginner adult players. Camaraderie, exercise, and achievement, all on the ice. Players go through Evaluation Skate on Sunday, August 30th at 5:20pm then are placed on teams based on skill level. For more information contact our D League Commissioner, Cheryl Church at cqbd4@yahoo.com
- MAHL League (Season Starts Sept. 1, 2026) 4 Divisions, 12 Games, & Playoffs

Discount Card
$120 for 14 sessions (4 FREE admissions). Available in the Pro Zone and kept on file for you. Discount cards can be used by multiple family members.
Session Limits
30 skaters and 2 goalies per session, first come, first served. No reservations.
Required Equipment
Skates, helmet, elbow pads, gloves, and shin guards.
